Rose Cheff, Community Health Worker

Challis Area Health Center's CHW, Rose Cheff, has lived in Challis for 13 years. During that time, she has worked as a front-desk receptionist for the Clinic, substitute teacher for K-12 and as the Director of the Custer County Coalition, a substance abuse prevention organization.  Mrs. Cheff works closely with key community partners, i.e. the Challis Area Health Center, Challis School District #181, Custer County and area law enforcement, to bring substance abuse prevention professionals and behavioral health professionals to work with area young people and their families on developing healthy relationships and avoiding substance abuse.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers who have a real understanding of the community they serve.  This relationship enables them to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community, ensuring that everyone has access to the services and resources they need to lead healthy lives.

Rose is a certified Consumer Connector with Your Health Idaho, our state-based insurance exchange.  Rose can help you understand your insurance coverage options and assist with enrollment from beginning to end.  Contact CAHC at (208) 879-4351 for more information.

Dawn Rae, Community Health Paramedic

Dawn is an 4th generation Idaho native who left the big city of Boise for Challis in December 2018 to join the healthcare team.  She spent the 15 years prior as a paramedic with Ada County Paramedics, working 24 hour shifts on a 911 ambulance and as part of a team developing and implementing a Community Paramedic program.  Before that she worked as a wildland firefighter, ski patroller, and waitress, among other things, somehow managing to complete a B.S. in Health Science from BSU along the way.  In her free time Dawn enjoys being outside, whether in the garden or the woods, hiking with her dog Moe, and reading.
